Creating your Brand

Creating your brand

This is a new concept for me. The purpose for creating yourself a brand is so that your clients and future clients have an easy time identifying your work or your name at a glance. I have to admit, I do not have all of the ideas for creating a brand in play.  I feel this one is a tough one for me to do but here is a list of what might work for creating a brand for you.

  1. Your signature needs to be readable and consistent.
  2. Create a logo or choose a symbol.
  3. A slogan is something to think able.
  4. Choose a color palate and have it on everything from business cards to website layout.
  5. Choose a few fonts and use them on everything.
  6. Often artists show their brand through their clothing and how they present themselves to the community.
  7. When putting photos of yourself out on social media, try to create a specify feeling. Think about whether it will be in color or black and white. Will you photograph yourself outside or in your studio.  Does the look of your studio lend in creating your specific brand?

I have read that a brand will help convey a feeling and tell a story quickly about who you are as an artist.  I think creating a brand is very in depth and may take a little practice.  I also read that you should never rush into anything while doing this part of your art.  I believe that branding should be incorporated into your artist business plan.

Take away: a brand helps your audience recognize your artwork quickly and with greater ease.
