Today I decided I need to write about what I am doing in order to become an artist. I believe this will be not only beneficial to myself, but it may be helpful to other artists trying to make their artistic way as well.
First thing I did was admit that I was an artist. What? Doesn’t a person know if they are an artist or not? Well sometimes it’s difficult to admit to yourself and then go and admit to other people that, yes, you are indeed an artist.
Some reasons for this crazy thing. 1. you feel your skill level is not good enough to be an artist. 2. You have heard remarks such as, yes you’re an artist but what is your real job. 3. you are under the impression that being an artist is not a respectable career. 4. being an artist is a bit pompous 5. making art is only a hobby.
Write down the reasons you have been avoiding admitting you are an artist, then take a big dark marker and write, right on top of that list, YES I’m an ARTIST!!!!!!
I’d recommend putting the date on it too.
